Shamian is a small community that is located in the middle of Guangzhou. Historically, it was a port during the Qing Dynasty and housed consulates from Europe. Currently, there are hotels, restaurants and cafes - more importantly, it has so so much character and beauty.
I love the mix between European architecture, as well as seeing the evolution of architecture as I walked through Shamian. It felt like I was stepping into a different city even though Shamian was located right in the middle of Guangzhou. Aside from the pictures I took at that village, these pictures are my favourite. I spent about 2 hours walking around with my grandma before settling down for a cup of coffee and just to talk.
