    [Tuesday To-Read] Issue 6

Every week, I will hold an event called Tuesday To - Read, where I add on to my list of books that I want to read. I will most likely stop by November, as my goal is to finish all my "to-reads" this year. Also, instead of linking old to-reads, you can just go to the bottom of my blog for the list of labels, and click on the "Tuesday To Read" label. Now on with the to read... this week's book is..................

    The Selection by Kiera Cass

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in the palace and compete for the heart of the gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself- and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

Uh-huh, oh yea, I GOT MY FIRST AUDIOBOOK, and it was FREE too !! If I could have a GIF on here, it would be someone dancing. Without further ado,the audiobook is...

In an America devastated by war and plague, the only way to survive is to keep moving.

In the aftermath of a World War III, America's landscape has been ravaged and left two thirds of the population dead. Fifteen-year-old Stephen Quinn and his family were among the few that survived, roaming the country as isolated scavengers.

But when Stephen's grandfather dies, Stephen must take charge off what family remains. Soon he finds his way to Settler's Landing, a community that seems too goo to be true. There Stephen meets strong, defiant, Jenny Tan, who refuses to accept things as they are. When they play a prank that goes horribly wrong, chaos erupts, and they find themselves in the midst of a battle that will change Settler's Landing forever.

I had already heard about this book a few times, and even saw it at the school book fair as well, but I never picked it up to read. I think the thing that really got me wanting to read it is the fact that it's a dystopian society as well, a genre I've really enjoyed reading this year.

Now that it's an audiobook, it's my first time listening to an audiobook, and my first time "reading" this book. Here's the link for the free audiobook if you want to download it too !! (:

    [Sunday Update] #5

Wheuu !! That was on crazy and fun week. If you missed any of my Armchair BEA posts, they will all be linked below as well. I've been crazily busy this week with studying, and Armchair BEA, I haven't gotten much reading done.

This was one of my favourite weeks since book blogging. I've enjoyed everything, and I learned a lot about how to improve my blog too !!

Also !! I won a giveaway on the last day of Armchair BEA, and I had a couple of choices that were already taken, so I had to choose again. I felt so unsure about this book, but we'll see about it. Not going to tell anyone what book it is yet, but that will be coming sooon !! (:

[Cover Reveal] Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick

Oh. My. God. THIS IS GORGEOUS, not my favourite cover yet, but still awesome. I have to re-read Hush, Hush, Crescendo, and Silence before I read this. There are a couple things that I forgot, and I usually read the series before a new book comes out anyways, just to refresh my mind. Is everyone as excited for Finale as I am ? I'm feel like squealing. LOL

    - Hush Hush : Be Quite
    - Crescendo : Getting Louder
    - Silence : Quite self-explanatory I think
    - Finale : Final, Ending

Makes all the sense in the world if you remember what happens in the books. I love the titles of these, and how they kind of play a song in my head, being a musical person obviously.

    [Armchair BEA] Day 5

Holy crap !! That was a fast and fun filled week ! I had a blast writing up these posts and seeing other's posts as well. Not only that, but I joined in on the last twitter party, which was, by the way, AWESOME !! There were questions about length of reviews, networking, when networking turns into spam, everything was just cool. I learned so many new things during this week, and I've been inspired to get to know my book community better. I've been inspired to find a local indie/bookstore, and help promote their events because I want to have a different sort of relationship with people in my community, and it seems really fun too.

So today's topic is The Future of Book Blogging.

I really like this topic, because this is the day where I get to ask you a few questions about book blogging. So here goes:

    • Do you like the appearance of my blog ? (the colours, font, etc.)
    • Would you guys be up for a few author interviews if I can possibly do it ?
    • If there were to be an author interview, would you like to be able to pitch some questions in ? I would also really like a list of what general questions to ask an author. (:
    • How do I add the twitter widget ? LOL... I've tried...
    • If you could change one thing to make my blog better, what would it be ?
    • How do I promote my blog to get more people to follow ?
    • I'm wondering, how do guest posts work ?
    • Do people nowadays usually follow just because they get an extra entry in giveaways ?
    • Do giveaways promote a blog ?
    • How do I connect with an author, and will they usually reply ?

It's hard to think of some questions, as I'm a green thumb to all this. I try my best not to care about the amount of followers sometimes, but it's hard not to. I just do what I want on here though, but I still want to promote my blog as well, and spread the word to a few others.

You can ask me a few questions as well, it doesn't really matter what the question is, anything from my favourite colour to personal questions. Though I might not answer the REALLY personal ones ahah.

I hope everyone had a blast with the Armchair BEA, and I'm really looking forward to next year.

    [Armchair BEA] Day 4

Boy, am I having fun with the Armchair BEA !! It's a fun, learning experience, and it's awesome because I'm also a newbie to all this book blogging stuff !! I was in part of the first twitter party, was at school during the second, but I'll be there for the third !! Which will be tonight from 8 - 10pm EST.

    Anyways, on to today's topic:

    Beyond the Blog

So, we have to talk about whether or not we would like to write elsewhere, maybe in a local newspaper or something like that. Maybe wanting to be a freelance writer, or just having personal goals on writing.

I, for one, have a goal to write and hopefully publish a book sometime during my life time. I haven't planned on what it'd be about yet, but maybe something personal about my own life, or something paranormal and crazy and dramatic LOL. Who knows ? I just hope that one day, I will be able to publish a book. Recently, I've found a site named Figment, and many people use that site to just write up their own stories, or base them on books they've read (fan fics). If you haven't read any fan fictions, they're pretty good, depending on which ones you choose. I've read a couple, and I LOVE them. They satisfy your OTP wishes too, like maybe the two people you wished would've ended up together didn't, that's where you can go to just write up your own story, or find others that feel the same way and have written one of their own. For now, it's one of my main goals in life. Another would be to have a part in a local newspaper, even though I don't read the newspaper much myself. LOL.

Since this post is a reasonable length, I want to add a bit more to it. Today's topic asked for what we'd like to do "beyond our blog", or what we actually do. I usually take pictures, and I'm not the skinniest person, so I try to work out in the comfort of my own home. I study hard because I'm in an AP class, and I'm currently studying for my upcoming finals, while doing this.

That's all for today ! Go check out the Armchair BEA site, and also the other blogs participating in this awesome event. I can't believe it's almost over too, that went by soo fast !!

    [Armchair BEA] Day 3

The topic of day 3 is.........

    Networking... In Real Life

Basically we have to write about a time where we positive experience with books. Something that happened in the book community or what not. This topic really stumped me, because I've actually just recently became involved in book blogging. However, I think that when you talk to others about reading a book, or really just discuss what happened in a book is really positive. You're getting other's thoughts on it, and maybe they have theories of their own as well as you do too.

Most of the time, I don't network much with others because believe it or not, I'm quite shy too ! I'm not the type of person to just boldly ask people about things or interact easily with others. I'm fine with strangers, it's not really awkward or anything, but sometimes I just don't feel comfortable bursting out in front of others.... because that's what I do when I find things in common with others. I burst out, just go on a full rampage and hug them and stuff... do things that scare people away. My close friends know how it is, and they've experienced it, so it's all good. But strangers, they're just going to get as far away from me as possible. LOL, that's one of the main reasons why I DON'T exactly network with others in real life, I just scare them away.

Sorry for such a short post, but I really had no idea how to write it up, but I tried my best !! I can't wait for next year too, this is so much fun, being able to participate !! Thanks to the Armchair BEA for coming up with such a brilliant idea ! I'm honestly having a blast, and trying to study for finals at the same time isn't easy !!

    [Armchair BEA] Day 1

    Hello beauties ~

Today is day 1 in the Armchair BEA. Regretfully, I couldn't make it to the actual BEA to meet bloggers and authors because:

1 - I'm 13, my mom is obviously not going to let me
    2 - I've got exams coming up
3 - I live in Edmonton, Alberta... if you know where that is, far away from New York ):

HOWEVER, thanks to Armchair BEA, I get to participate in a way right in the comfort of my bed/computer chair. So let's get rooooooooollllin'

The first day consists of questions that are given to us by the Armchair BEA, just to get to know each blogger a little better. They gave us 10 questions, and of those 10, we select 5 of them to answer !!

    Full list of questions here.

I picked five and here are my answers. The number corresponds with the number of the questions they gave us.

    1. My name is Leanne, I like photography, reading, book blogging, music, playing piano, eating LOL, sleeping in, and lots of stuff !! I'm 13, live in Canada, with my parents and brother. (: I started blogging just over a month ago and I'm LOVING it. I got into blogging because of Book Twirps, they inspired me. It just looked quite fun, and I love it.

    2. Hmm, this is a hard one, I have so many favourites this year !! City of Lost Souls, Divergent & Insurgent, Inheritance Cycle, ahaha. Good thing they said "of 2012" otherwise I'd be naming off books for forever.

    3. I'm indecisive. (e.g.) I have no idea what to do with my life, should I be an event planner, photographer, musician, interior designer. YEA, exactly. Indecisive, even when deciding what to eat.

    6. My favourite post would have to be my Favourite Book Blogs post. It's probably because they replied to me and quite honestly, I fangirled, hard.

    7. That is one hard question. J.K. Rowling, Christopher Paolini, Cassandra Clare, Stephanie Meyer, oh man. I DON'T KNOW, see ? Indecisive.

Well, I hope you enjoyed DAY 1 of the Armchair BEA, there'll be more coming !

P.S. This is so embarrassing, I typed all this up on the wrong blog, but thank god for copy and paste. LOL
